Celebratoryreasons
It was Stuart's birthday a few weeks back, and to celebrate he had a chilled out 'shindig' (I hear thats what the cool kids are calling them these days ;) over at his. Super-alcoholic punch, savoury snacks and yummy cake....what more can you ask for? Well, being able to clean up afterwards and just crash and not have to contemplate travelling anywhere was pretty sweet too. We did have to wipe down the floor about 8 times the next morning though, thanks to Stu's OCD housemate. Oh well, small price to pay.
The dress is from Miss Kym's capsule collection for Sportsgirl. Gorgeous prints, materials, design aesthetic. I'm in love......can we see an ongoing collab, Miss Kym? Please pretty please. How rad would a winter capsule collection by Ellery for Sportsgirl be?!!?!
p.s. the girls in the second picture are my besties.....aren't they gorgeous? Love them to bits!

whodowelovesayit
I'm loving all things Sportsgirl at the moment. Killer heels, check. Ridiculously perfect nail varnishes, check. Designer collaborations to stalk for, check. Fabulous clothing, check. Free shipping for a limited period, check! I reckon Sportsgirl is having another 'IT' moment. Amen.
Particularly enamoured by their latest designer collaboration....Kym Ellery for Sportsgirl. I have to admit I have a girl crush on this 27 year old Perth-native. Loooove Ellery designs and the sense of luxury and perfection of every damn piece. So when I realised there was going to be THE collaboration of collaborations, I bunkered down and did a (mental) countdown. You just can't make this shit up. Did I mention I have a crush on alllll Ellery clothing? I did. I'll say it again. Check it out to see what I mean.
Ellery pieces are not your run of the mill, stock-standard ones. Every piece is made with love, most are made to order, and the time spent on each item of clothing is testiment to the Ellery brand. Not to mention that us Aussies adore her work, her designs, everything. I've featured Ellery on the blog before. And why not. Unfortunately, Ellery doesn't come cheap. Even on ebay. So a designer collaboration? I'm in, guns blazing.
The capsule 8 piece collection came out yesterday and looked fabulous on the website. I had to go in though to see just what the clothes looked like and their quality. But no need to stress, each piece LOOKS like quality, is made of the finest materials and just fits so freaking perfectly. Amen. And thank you, Kym!
I had to....I bought the high neck oversize lapel cropped jacket (swoooon), the cotton & silk animal print voile minidress (this fits like a dream and is soft) and even the tiger print skinny jeans (a risk as I haven't tried them on, but I suspect they'll be perfect). I can always return/exchange the pants if they're a no-go. I suspect they'll be a dream. Fingers crossed.
So Sportsgirl, we salute you. For undeniable affordable style, for fantastic customer service, for wicked postage deals and most of all for the designer collaborations that make our hearts melt just that little bit more. Swoon.
I recommend heading over to the Sportsgirl website to check out the Ellery range asap. The pieces are even more beautiful in real life. And where the hell else are you going to get a chance to get your hands on Ellery for $190?!!?! I have to admit, I wouldn't be sharing this if I hadn't picked up my pieces yet, but since I have...tis a secret that's too good to keep!

Shake your tailfeather....
A friend's coming over from Mexico and will be staying with us, so the weekend has been spent pretty much cleaning. Our guest room hosts all my spare "rubbish" i.e. clothes, accessories, shoes, vintage, etc.....and so I had to clean it all out/compartmentalise/rationalise. I'm buggered from cleaning! Can I get a weekend to recover from my weekend?!?! Here's where I iterate that lovely concept of the 4-day working week. Which I could arrange with work, but would need to work much longer hours for.....hmmm.....
I wore this dress out, and some random guy came up to me and asked why it was so loose fitting. He then proceeded to give me styling advice. About wearing a belt to cinch it in. Etcetera. Really.....how very metrosexual of you buddy. Aren't you just supposed to enjoy the view? I kid. Point taken. Although after a few long island iced teas....not quite sure there was a point, or what it was ;)
p.s. I've recently discovered the brilliance that is Sportsgirl's matte nailpolish. I'm wearing a turquoise blue here. Yours for $7.95. I've since bought a matte mint green, and a matte coral. Who knew I was capable of such girlie-ness?!?!
Did we have a good weekend? And please don't say it involved cleaning. I'm banning that word. Seriously. In all seriousness though, how did you spend the weekend?

Summer whites....
.....and boat shoes!
Spent Sunday bumming around the house, doing laundry, catching with a girlfriend for coffee at a beach-side cafe (thank you, summer!), consuming even more caffeine avec Stuart at the boat harbour, karaokeing our little hearts out in the heat of my run-down old toyota to the fab sounds on the radio (Mix 94.5, if you have to know ;), and generally getting more brown....and it's only the beginning of summer.
p.s. gotta love the bath slipper-like white slip-ons ;)

Patchwork kids....
I thrifted this patchwork maxi skirt a little while ago. I was particularly taken by the ruffles and flounce-y details at the back of the skirt and the hems. Crazy prints? I'm so there. Ridiculous posing? With bells on, dahhlinkkk.
Hope you're all having a fab week thus far.....aren't you glad it's already (nearly) Thursday?!?! I am, work has been chaotic crazy this week.

fringing and beads
Sometimes all you need is fringing and beads.
Behold this beaded scarf from some random, hole-in-the-wall store in the city.
Gotta love the benefits of working in the city
(err...or not, given how much I'm tempted to spend money)
And the ever-present DIY studded boots.
I love these babies.

greener pastures hither wander....
tie dye bustier dress by Nicholas X Morley for Sportsgirl ($170 AUD)
Enamoured by the current Sportsgirl collaborations: Cohen et Sabine, Spell Designs, Nicholas X Morley and Minty meets Munt. The above dress looks even better in person (and in the bold-coloured version that Morley is famous for and that has sold out), but for $170 I'm resigned to adoring this stunner from afar.

In the midst of it all...
...I seem to have been struck down with some nasty, nasty flu. Grrrr.
It means I'm too lazy to upload photos that I took at the launch of the 2009 Perth Fashion Festival. I promise to do so, just so I can share the gorgeousness that was the "sneak peak" of the fashion goodness to come (festival dates: September 4-10. see: http://www.perthfashionfestival.com.au/ for details).
As a result of the flu, I spent much of the weekend rugged up. Ironically however I chose to wear my snood and skinny jeans as well as my leather jacket, prompting Stuart to wonder where I was heading. Nowhere is the answer, the clothes were just comfy and more importantly warm.
Pictures from yesterday, we found Charlie and Stuart grey snoods from Sportsgirl. Had to play around with them, obviously. Love the grey version even more than the black....potentially??? (p.s. this was prior to being struck down by the flu)
Waddaya know, I smile...
Hope you all had a lovely weekend, and have a fab week....thanks for the fab comments, I promise to comment back as soon as I can!

Sharp Turn
I acquired this sharp shouldered blazer (i.e. blazer with ridiculous shoulder pads that I love) at my favourite vintage store and fell in lust straight away. Good thing it goes with everything I own then. Not sure if the shoulders are as noticeable here as they are in real life but they are my power shoulders for sure. And strangely enough, my work colleagues are now so accustomed to me showing up in odd fashion statements that they complimented my jacket and only jokingly called me a man (a few times) ;).
p.s. for the Aussies out there, have you seen the velcro-on shoulder pads Sportsgirl is touting? I cannot help but laugh. C'mon, really?
these kookai pants are deliciously poufy and the silk is so lightweight, its like wearing pyjamas :)
I'm looking forward to after-work drinks tonight with aforementioned work colleagues (I scheduled this post as I'm potentially going to be too tipsy to coherently type ;). We get on so well, it makes work even more fabulous to be at. We laugh at each other, crack each other up, have a junk food section, a serious caffeine addiction and pass lewd comments and veiled jokey insults all the time. Love. It.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Leather love with stylish friends
Me and Sportsgirl are thick as thieves. And whilst I do think they are overpriced on any given day, I just patiently (or not so as the case may be) wait until said item goes on sale. In the case of this pair of leather leggings however, originally $229 aud but which I scored for $50 aud, it was a case of walking in and being amazed at the sale price. I decided to buy them in a bigger size so that they would fit me like a regular pair of trousers.
Worn out to a very fun night....full of laughs, alot of perving, free drinks, heater conversations, nutjob dancing and a whole lot more!

Newly Inspired...
A few days back, I was stoked to receive a lovely blog award from the gorgeous Eda of Eda's Planet. Eda's Planet is a recently discovered blog, comprising of a complimentary mix of fashion inspiration, outfits, beauty news and other random but relevant bits of information. Go, go, go...check out the blog :)
So, apart from smiling like a lunatic at work when I realised I'd been presented with this gorgeously floralesque award (bearing in mind blog checking is a no-no ;), I would like to pass on the award to:
1) Stompface - She always makes me laugh, we're going to start a tee-wearing business, she controls a strange man called Mr Bird, she has long Rapunzel-esque hair and a fab blog!
2) Fashion Bananas - Love her style!
3) CC of Couture Carrie - hell, this lady is listed under 'fashion function and fabulousness' in the dictionary. No really, go lookie.
4) Pauline of In My Body's House - her writing is haunting and you will not be able to look away. I guarantee it :)
5) Sharon Rose-Style, Thrifting, Fashion and Me - she IS the thrifting queen. You will not be disappointed.
6) Style Porn - Love this blog...always great for daily outfit updates, fashion updates or just updates in general.
7) Bella of Vintage Lollipops - If there was a way to do it (forget about getting caught out!), I would def plunder from her closet. It's my dream closet! Her blog is a no-brainer i.e. must read!
8) Sarah of Macaroni Club - a very recent discovery, this girl's style is off the charts and her blog a must read...what are you waiting for??
9) Anywhere but here - beautiful blog with gorgeous photography and style.
10) Life in Travel - another very recent discovery, this girl's style and smile are killer. Her outfits are insane too!
The shots are from Sunday, prior to Stuart and mine's coffee date. Every Sunday, without fail.
I found this gorgeous bauble sweater at an op-shop a while back and immediately thought of it as a cool oversize sweater dress. And it's a first for me because I NEVER wear pink....broadening my horizons, I am :)
I'm planning to stud the hell out of these boots....mwah hah hah, cannot wait! Studs are on their way, they were just puchased today off of ebay.

Love Fools
...yeah, Stuart and Charlie, you two were made for each other.
.Pretty.
Stalking has never looked so appealing, has it. Helps that you two work together of course ;)
These shots were taken at X-WRAY in Fremantle. We started with a delicious and cheap Italian meal, followed with crazy and wildly inappropriate conversations over cocktails at my favourite bar/cafe/lounge. There was live music, cheapola mojitos and fan-bloody-tastic company.
What more could you possibly want.

Rocketfuellers; their conversation apparently gets as wildly inappropriate as ours does at my work. Nice.

Shiny Disco Leggings
You guys all rock. Thanks for all the wonderful comments!
I promise to respond to each and every one of your fabulous comments in the next few days
(this week has been full of preparing for a job interview I had today, an application to go on a funded course in Melbourne, form filling out, and nerves...phew! And its only Wednesday)
I think I've mentioned previously my affinity for any, and all in complete honesty, shiny/liquid/sparkly/sequinned/wet look leggings. I'll take them all. So I was delighted to find this pair at Sportsgirl (oh when will you guys reward me for my obsessive lingering and purchasing of your products, hmm?). I recognise an addiction, but what can I say...atleast its not drugs ;)
Worn to dinner with a friend from my high school in Kenya. It was fantastic catching up, almost like a re-discovery of a good story that you read all over again. I haven't seen her since we were both 16, so its been a while. We re-told old stories over a bottle of vino and it was the good ol' days all over again.
Note to self: facebook overseas friends more often (I'm horrible at utilising social networking sites, I tell you)
On a side note, I ordered a pair of leather biker boots off of ASOS on Wednesday and they were at my doorstep yesterday. Woah. Thats efficiency. They alerted me to dispatch on Thursday and were here by Monday. Service with a smile. And I love the boots; comfy, sexy and the perfect 'flat' shoes.....so badass, its good!
Have a lovely weekend folks :)
