loveinthoseshoes

Absolutely adore the stylings of Christine from Christeric. And how rad are the shoes she DIYed?!!?! I love these on her. I'm not inspired enough (or talented enough) to even contemplate DIYing a pair for myself.

Modelled on the Charles Anastase Dungeon Boots, these babies are ridiculous. In the best way. I don't think I'd be able to pull these off, but if anyone can its Christine.

Love.

Go check our her blog NOW. She rocks.

Life is so much better with a drizzle of sequins...

Or so that famous saying goes. A collection of random outfit shots from the weekend. Worn, in order, to watch Bertie Blackman in concert (bloody fantastic voice), to coffee with Stuart (time to break out the vintage pink cardi of course) and to a leaving dinner for a good friend of ours.

One of our more rambunctious weekends. Ever feel like you need to recover from the weekend? I'm with you. Bring on the quieter week :)

black & blue

The snood got some action two days after I bought it. Favouritism at its very best. I very nearly typed 'nepotism' but that's a worrying thought right there. Related to great big wooly holes that I favour??!!? Actually.......nah, I kid ;)

I realised that not only is the snood a multi-wearable item of clothing (as a thick-knit neck scarf/as a snood/as a pillow/as an electric blanket for your ears) but that I'm turning the world into a snood-hood, one person at a time.

I bought Stuart one, Charlie has my guarantee I'll buy him one....who's next?

I also got Stuart to take a close-up of my hands as I'm wearing this cool nailpolish that Erika sent me (NYC Big Apple Red Creme - thank you hun :) and that I mixed with a magenta shade from Modelista. The rings make up part of my normal body armour.

Weekend shenanigans (and more snoodisms)

(long post, you have been warned)

Thanks for all the feedback on the last post. I got quite a few new book recommendations and will definitely be looking into them. I also got a few recommendations that are favourites of mine but that I had completely forgotten as I listed books off the top of my head (so thank you once again :). Also, I'm humbled by all your comments on my photography. I've been an avid photography enthusiast for ages and it's a passive hobby of mine. I'm saving money for a Canon Rebel XTI but thus far have relied on good light and just what feels right. I cannot wait to invest in a decent camera and take my hobby to new obsessive limits (probably :)

Antoine of florilège d'esthète meanwhile informed me that he had forwarded the following blog award on to me. Antoine's blog is a delight and his posts are intelligent and a must-read. Thank you Antoine, it is a pleasure to be awarded this :)

This past weekend comprised of gift shopping, coffee drinking, Gracie's birthday celebrations, Ellie's and my discussions about shoes, shopping and other randomness, overdosing on delicious punch and the inevitable tipsy-ness (although Charlie was more drunk than the rest of us....were you drinking beforehand??!!), catching up with friends I hadn't seen in a while and meeting new ones, unveiling the snood and convincing Charlie and my mother that they needed one like they needed air, staging a photoshoot featuring Stuart (photos to come) and more caffeine intake. Fun times.

Studding, studding, studding...

I decided to wear my not-yet-completed DIY project, the boots, out a few days back. While studding, I had to chop the fringe from the front of the boots so that the studs were visible. I like it so far but am not sure whether to keep going or stop as currently is. I've got the thumbs up on the studding (and the 'yeah, stop studding') from my sister and Stuart. What do you guys think? Does it need more studs? Should I go stud crazy and do the whole front of the boots?

In other news, the coffee shop I visit more often than what one would call 'regularly' now has a fantastic musician who puts on a one-man show every Wednesday evening for a couple of hours (he sings and plays the guitar). Will just have to chill out at Tiger Tiger on Wednesdays after work from now on, obviously :) The guy is a brilliant muso; he has a low, husky voice and is fantastic on the guitar.

How's everyone's week going?

I just recently decided to put more effort into my blog/follow other blogs (I used to just know the ones I checked and would pull up the sites each time, now I can link direct :)/have a 'follow me' segment and potentially, but not definitely, get into bloglovin'. Hmmm, we'll just have to see. Follow me? Also, let me know if you would like to exchange links :)

Terminator Slash Leggings

I'm such a slacker I actually bought a pair of (what would be) D.I.Y. slashed leggings from Supre.

Still, there's something to be said about store-bought slashed leggings that cost next to nothing; the slashes are precision cut saving me the hassle of measuring out where to cut the leggings and cost only $20 Aus (which is what I would have paid for the leggings whole).

Worn to watch Terminator Salvation. A movie I thought I'd be muchly bewildered and disappointed in given I have no clue what the whole Terminator deal is. But factoring in Christian Bale (one of my favourite actors), relative newbie Sam Worthington who blows Bale out of the water in the movie (he of 'Blue Heelers' and 'Love My Way' fame) and a more than decent story plot, this movie is actually one to watch. Nice. And confession time, I was actually sniffling at the end. Why? Highlight below for the story giveaway....don't say you weren't warned...

He is the key to keeping Bale alive in the end, graciously giving his heart to him and terminating his own life, leaving Bale and Rees and the Resistance with the realisation that what makes humans human is our unpredicitability and essentially, our hearts.

this time around, I remembered to take a photo of the back of the tunic....

Newly Inspired...

A few days back, I was stoked to receive a lovely blog award from the gorgeous Eda of Eda's Planet. Eda's Planet is a recently discovered blog, comprising of a complimentary mix of fashion inspiration, outfits, beauty news and other random but relevant bits of information. Go, go, go...check out the blog :)

So, apart from smiling like a lunatic at work when I realised I'd been presented with this gorgeously floralesque award (bearing in mind blog checking is a no-no ;), I would like to pass on the award to:

1) Stompface - She always makes me laugh, we're going to start a tee-wearing business, she controls a strange man called Mr Bird, she has long Rapunzel-esque hair and a fab blog!
2) Fashion Bananas - Love her style!
3) CC of Couture Carrie - hell, this lady is listed under 'fashion function and fabulousness' in the dictionary. No really, go lookie.
4) Pauline of In My Body's House - her writing is haunting and you will not be able to look away. I guarantee it :)
5) Sharon Rose-Style, Thrifting, Fashion and Me - she IS the thrifting queen. You will not be disappointed.
6) Style Porn - Love this blog...always great for daily outfit updates, fashion updates or just updates in general.
7) Bella of Vintage Lollipops - If there was a way to do it (forget about getting caught out!), I would def plunder from her closet. It's my dream closet! Her blog is a no-brainer i.e. must read!
8) Sarah of Macaroni Club - a very recent discovery, this girl's style is off the charts and her blog a must read...what are you waiting for??
9) Anywhere but here - beautiful blog with gorgeous photography and style.
10) Life in Travel - another very recent discovery, this girl's style and smile are killer. Her outfits are insane too!

The shots are from Sunday, prior to Stuart and mine's coffee date. Every Sunday, without fail.

I found this gorgeous bauble sweater at an op-shop a while back and immediately thought of it as a cool oversize sweater dress. And it's a first for me because I NEVER wear pink....broadening my horizons, I am :)

Barbeque bonanza

A barbeque dinner invite at a friend's parents house.
Equals lengthy conversation and laughs, but still a decent cut-off time for valued sleep :)

With the surprisingly warm weather we've had this weekend, twas perfect for an outdoor barbeque. We listened to great anthems from the 'heyday', sipped red wine and reminisced about the good old days, back when we were in college.

I saw this headdress tee at Supre awhile ago, but never thought to actually step instore to purchase it. When I walked past Supre again a little while ago and saw the tee yet again, I decided to try it on in my size. It looked cute-ish but didn't have the 'ooomph' factor. On a whim, I decided to try it in a large....and love it. Gorgeous, soft, comfy tee, how I do love you, let me count the ways.

I DIYed the gloves....I think the curve of a womans hand, at the thumb, is sexy and therefore showcasing it seems like a good idea ce n'est pas. The studs came in handy too. Love my ridiculous DIY gloves :)

HAPPY EASTER everyone

This and that

These are bits'n'bobs of what's been happening....

A few weeks ago, Erika from fashion chalet and me sent each other gift packages.

I loved hers....it had the cutest card, nail polish (to complement my growing collection cough*obsessionmuch*cough), fabulous easter egg chocolates and some eye makeup as well.
Score, right?

Photobucket
you may be asking, 'where are the chocolates?'. guess? my tummy. correct!

You all know Erika to be the sweetest blogger out there. Seriously. And she has a great blog.If you don't, visit fashion chalet ASAP.

Also, I promised to take a photo of the DIYed Wang denim chain shorts. Seriously the easiest DIY ever. If you want to try it, see this post by Shini from Park and Cube>
(simple, clear instructions. trust me.)

Here's the end result....I'm very pleased at how they turned out.

Vampire Queen

I really do feel like a Queen of the Underworld wearing this gorgeous sheer, stiff gauzy cape from Kookai. Bought on sale a while back and my current favourite accessory.

I paired it with black items for a structured, monochrome outfit
....one that had texture variation to make it pop.

I wore this to the new jazz club that opened up a few weeks ago. There was a fabulous jazz band playing and a good time was had. It was your classic 50's jazz club set-up, so twas certainly an experience. We'll be sure to go back...they feature some fantastic jazz acts.

The necklace started off as a piece from Diva. I bought some more chain, roped them to the existing chain and voila = chunky new hardware.
(I left off the long gold multi-strand chain necklace and short gold cross beaded necklace as I didn't want to be jingling at the jazz club, but am looking forward to wearing the "necklace" in its entirety. Simple things make me happy :)

Hardware and DIYs

Ooooh just added to my jewellery collection, in the form of funky chunky gold bangles with 'peace' carved out in both. Sportsgirl, yep. It's okay, I accept my addiction and will deal with the punishment :)

Additionally, I have been looking for a gorgeous cropped blazer and finally found one. It was on sale from Temt and is wool and sooo comfy. I adore it!

I'm very much looking forward to my next DIY project (which was inspired by Shini from Park and Cube). What is it, you ask. Ahhh, thought you'd never.
The A.Wang shredded chain jeans.

I bought the last bits and pieces I need and will be tackling it as soon as I get home from work tomorrow. Yeah, I'm uber cool like that ;)

Here are some random pics from our trampolining expedition. Nothing says adult like us 20 pluses trampolining next to all these 5-12 years olds :D.
(We then ventured down to the local beach to chill out and listen to 50's swing, check out the hot rods and generally soak up the ambience at the retro beach party)

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie...

So I thought about doing a post on the best of NYFW, in my opinion anyway (loved Ruffian!), but the blogosphere is saturated with those posts so I thought it might pay to highlight some Australian designers, whose work and inspirations and creations I wish I owned/would like to DIY (insert as appropriate)....

time to start trying to make that wish a reality, me thinks!

These excerpts are from the RAFW 08/09 shows; I thought it was time they were revisited.

I got some studs off of ebay yesterday and am looking forward to studding some leather boots, yay. I'm also working on DIYing the Alexander Wang holey sweater....cannot wait!

Thank you all for the lovely comments, it really makes my day!
