Shake your tailfeather....

A friend's coming over from Mexico and will be staying with us, so the weekend has been spent pretty much cleaning. Our guest room hosts all my spare "rubbish" i.e. clothes, accessories, shoes, vintage, etc.....and so I had to clean it all out/compartmentalise/rationalise. I'm buggered from cleaning! Can I get a weekend to recover from my weekend?!?! Here's where I iterate that lovely concept of the 4-day working week. Which I could arrange with work, but would need to work much longer hours for.....hmmm.....

I wore this dress out, and some random guy came up to me and asked why it was so loose fitting. He then proceeded to give me styling advice. About wearing a belt to cinch it in. Etcetera. Really.....how very metrosexual of you buddy. Aren't you just supposed to enjoy the view? I kid. Point taken. Although after a few long island iced teas....not quite sure there was a point, or what it was ;)

p.s. I've recently discovered the brilliance that is Sportsgirl's matte nailpolish. I'm wearing a turquoise blue here. Yours for $7.95. I've since bought a matte mint green, and a matte coral. Who knew I was capable of such girlie-ness?!?!

Did we have a good weekend? And please don't say it involved cleaning. I'm banning that word. Seriously. In all seriousness though, how did you spend the weekend?

auburn, red, red-red, chestnut

I've been thinking about dyeing my hair again. I dyed it an auburn red a few months back and it's finally faded to a lovely brown. Time for a re-dye however. I'm debating whether to dye it red-red or just a lovely chestnut brown....hmmmm, the options.

This week has been crazy. Work has kicked my arse, so much so that I have been coming home and just lounging. No energy to blog. Or to try to do anything semi-productive. I have however been lusting after a fair few shoes......the Maurie & Eve Platinum Punk Wedges (that I've paid a deposit for (just awaiting their arrival in my fave Billie & Rose store)), the YSL cage knockoffs by Siren (now instore), and these babies....

Cannot stop thinking about these. They're so different, so structurally delicate, and soooo out of my price range. To add insult to injury, I'm physically restraining myself from purchasing yet another pair of heels until I sell some of my unworn shoes, and then only buying shoes that I reallllly like and that will be a sound investment. Still, I'm like a junkie on crack-cocaine.....can't stop twitching fingers.....

Going to help my sister do some thrifting tomorrow. Should be fun....love a good rummage in quality vintage stores! I promise to comment on your blogs soon, thank you muchly for all the love <3

Jodphurs, not just for jockeys

These navy jodphurs were the score of the century.

Found at an annual Red Cross charity sale at the showgrounds.

Its hard to see in the pictures, but they feature tight-knit clashing panels of blue elastane-d material....gorgeous.

Not much to be had in the way of designer gear at the charity sale, but we did show up at 11am (and they had opened at 8.30am, with all the Perth models/socialites showing up then to steal some designer bargains).

Still, I did manage to get my hands on a pair of gorgeous Zambesi sheer pants which I adore to bits. Soon to come on this blog. And yes, in the manner of Susie from Style Bubble folks. The way she wears sheer pants is 'sheer' genius ;)

Love New Zealand designers too, they rock. Hard.

Sharp shoulders, baby.

So here's the dress I talked about yesterday. I found it at a thrift store quite a while ago but only managed to alter it yesterday, whilst watching some mind-numbing tv show. I made it a whole lot shorter than it originally was and changed the hem to it. I also (accidentally) managed to alter the complete shape of the dress. No, I don't know the specifics of that any better than you do :)

But. I adore it! I have no idea where the hell I'd wear something like this (office Christmas party, anyone?) but am absolutely taken by the breath-taking shoulders and huge gold buttons. Ahhh, eight dollar love :)

I still need to find shoes that match the bright blue shade, these grey pumps had to do for the clothing trial shot.

In other news, I've finally managed to complete my Christmas shopping (for now, anyway). Bring on the festivity!

Op-shopping

Or what the Americans like to call "thrifting". I adore op-shopping, a task made even more exiting by the thrill of finding exquisite, divine pieces. Ahhh. But Perth is a little hit and miss with op-shops, and slowly I'm getting to grips with which ones always have gorgeous stock, replace stock regularly, have unique stuff, are budget-friendly (I kid you not, I walked into one awhile back where the prices of quite a few items were more than they originally cost. The goods were also cheap chainstore quality. So I quickly walked out before I was tempted to buy valleygirl (a.k.a the Australian version of F21) pants for $28!).

That experience aside, I'm lucky in that I find alot of nice stuff. Which may explain why I recently went to put a new vintage skirt in my cupboard and found it was a wee bit of a squeeze. Ahem. Hence I will soon be putting some of the vintage goods up for sale on ebay. A girl just cannot own that many things, right? (Apart from shoes, of course ;)

This was what I wore op-shopping a little while back.....

I picked up some good stuff, including a gorgeous vintage crochet style cardi and these cute-as-a-button navy blue leather flats with navy suede and gold bows and gold trim around the heels.

p.s. It's not a bad thing if the staff in the above vintage shops all know me by name, and suggest things I might like every time I go in, right? Heh.
