Devil's Lair
I go through phases of adoration of bright red lipstick.
I'm currently in a bright red lips phase, so all outfits are topped up with a swipe of L'oreal 'Garnet Creme' (shade 460 if we're going to be technical about it).
I actually put MAC's bright red matte lipstick (I forget the shade name) on my imaginary shopping list on Friday but walked straight past Myers without a second thought. Ah well, it'll just have to be acquired on Tuesday.
On Friday, Stuart invited me over for dinner (delicious cream cheese stuffed mushrooms topped with cherry tomatoes and a steak and sweet potato main course....drooool) followed by a movie at the cinema next to his place.
We watched Samson and Delilah, Warwick Thornton's first feature film. The film is exquisite, hauntingly so.....there's hardly any dialogue and the movie bears no resemblence to the biblical story yet leaves a lasting impression. Its about two teenagers in a remote Indigenous community, and about love in the face of adversity. The movie is understatedly fantastic. There isn't a theme of sentimentality or even a forced story line, instead the actors are mind-blowingly good. Samson is a petrol-sniffing good-for-nothing, whilst Delilah is surprisingly self-contained and looks after her grandmother in the remote community. When her grandmother dies, they both head off to Alice Springs where they live on the fringe of the community (aka under a bridge with a homeless guy), unable to get life together.
I was amazed at the emotions delivered by the young actors, and more so how the film is so well-made...its a tough film about love, and as Margaret and David at the Movies say, "It's a knockout". It's so sad but ends on such a high note, its a completely unexpected relative happy ending.
I urge the Aussies out there to watch this beauty of a film, its one of those that grabs at your heart, doesn't preach and will make you laugh, be appalled and aghast all in one sitting. Just gorgeous, in a wonderfully understated way.

Newly Inspired...
A few days back, I was stoked to receive a lovely blog award from the gorgeous Eda of Eda's Planet. Eda's Planet is a recently discovered blog, comprising of a complimentary mix of fashion inspiration, outfits, beauty news and other random but relevant bits of information. Go, go, go...check out the blog :)
So, apart from smiling like a lunatic at work when I realised I'd been presented with this gorgeously floralesque award (bearing in mind blog checking is a no-no ;), I would like to pass on the award to:
1) Stompface - She always makes me laugh, we're going to start a tee-wearing business, she controls a strange man called Mr Bird, she has long Rapunzel-esque hair and a fab blog!
2) Fashion Bananas - Love her style!
3) CC of Couture Carrie - hell, this lady is listed under 'fashion function and fabulousness' in the dictionary. No really, go lookie.
4) Pauline of In My Body's House - her writing is haunting and you will not be able to look away. I guarantee it :)
5) Sharon Rose-Style, Thrifting, Fashion and Me - she IS the thrifting queen. You will not be disappointed.
6) Style Porn - Love this blog...always great for daily outfit updates, fashion updates or just updates in general.
7) Bella of Vintage Lollipops - If there was a way to do it (forget about getting caught out!), I would def plunder from her closet. It's my dream closet! Her blog is a no-brainer i.e. must read!
8) Sarah of Macaroni Club - a very recent discovery, this girl's style is off the charts and her blog a must read...what are you waiting for??
9) Anywhere but here - beautiful blog with gorgeous photography and style.
10) Life in Travel - another very recent discovery, this girl's style and smile are killer. Her outfits are insane too!
The shots are from Sunday, prior to Stuart and mine's coffee date. Every Sunday, without fail.
I found this gorgeous bauble sweater at an op-shop a while back and immediately thought of it as a cool oversize sweater dress. And it's a first for me because I NEVER wear pink....broadening my horizons, I am :)
I'm planning to stud the hell out of these boots....mwah hah hah, cannot wait! Studs are on their way, they were just puchased today off of ebay.

Love Fools
...yeah, Stuart and Charlie, you two were made for each other.
.Pretty.
Stalking has never looked so appealing, has it. Helps that you two work together of course ;)
These shots were taken at X-WRAY in Fremantle. We started with a delicious and cheap Italian meal, followed with crazy and wildly inappropriate conversations over cocktails at my favourite bar/cafe/lounge. There was live music, cheapola mojitos and fan-bloody-tastic company.
What more could you possibly want.
"the decoy"
Rocketfuellers; their conversation apparently gets as wildly inappropriate as ours does at my work. Nice.

Perugino's: food porn for a birthday celebration
We visited Perugino in West Perth Friday last weekend for the occasion of a good friend's 25th birthday. The food was delicious, the company delightful. The waiters spoke in Italian accents (real and otherwise :). We complemented the meal with shots of some aniseed liquer, followed by a short stint at a pub-slash-club opposite the road. Good times.
And once again, I picked the Tristan Blairs to wear. For those contemplating investing in the shoes let me just confirm that these shoes are the be-all and end-all. Sexy, comfortable and a 5 inch wedge heel. I would happily wear these for the rest of my life....or until they broke :)

Killer Virus Attack
Guess who got struck down by another mystery illness just a few days ago?
Yep, whilst my body's immunity is down and desperately trying to fight off this killer cold strain that seems to have afflicted more than half of Perth another villain virus kicked me in the guts whilst it skipped around aimlessly, glee clearly visible on its wretched face.
I am afraid to state that I am on the path to recovery (from both), because that second sucker might just overhear me. Shhhh!
Meanwhile I have been living in these drop crotch pants I found in Fremantle a few months ago. They are the ultimate in DCPs; very low drop, elasticised ankles and tapered legs.
.Heaven.
Paired with a sheer modal tee, I've found my "outside" version of pyjamas. Amen.
Crimped hair, kids, its all the rage ;)

Tee repeat and X-WRAY Cafe
As mentioned in the last post, that was the not going to be the last time you set eyes upon my beloved Metallica tee. Given that a) I love Metallica (esp. old school Metallica); b) this has to be the most comfy tee I've ever slipped on; and c) I have a new "grey" fascination, you're bound to see this tee alot more.
This time around, worn to Danny Bhoy's (the Scottish comedian) stand up gig and to drinks afterwards. I also wore my Tristan Blairs for the very first time and I have to admit that I am in complete lust nay love. They look incredible with anything and everything and are the most comfy 5" heel around. So comfy infact that lots of walking didn't kill my feet nor did dancing for a good 3-4 hours (on a separate night). Score!
they look slightly scary here, don't they (mwah hah hah) - love 'em!
I also visited my fave coffee shop in Perth last weekend; X-WRAY in Fremantle.
best coffee in Perth. no joke.
Their recent bar addition is reminiscent of a favourite bar of mine back in Kenya that's located on the beach, has the same kind of set up (lots of plants, a makeshift bar with stools) and is tucked away round a corner from the road. I love the bar in Kenya to bits and I can easily see X-WRAY replacing that much-needed hippy lounge hangout. In fact I spent a few hours at X-WRAY last weekend drinking the best flat whites and reading the newspaper whilst the bartender made afternoon cocktails for a few alcohol-imbibing customers and reggae pop funk music played in the background.
Heaven!!
Hope you're all having a great weekend....I've got the worst cold (hence the blog abandonment) and am trying to get over it asap.

worn-in perfection
Get used to this tee, you'll be seeing alot of it on the blog.
From my favourite vtg rock band-memorabilia store in Melbourne; retrostar.
(I got this Metallica tee and a Rolling Stones tour tee. Both in soft, grey, worn-in cotton.)
Now I only wish I had got a few more for good measure.
Perfection truly is a simple comfy tee and jeans
Worn (in this set of shots, anyway) to dinner and drinks at an Irish pub. When they claim to serve "hearty meals", they MEAN it. I had to be wheelbarrowed out of there...which explains the last lazy, lounging shot against the car. Hah.
my hair's getting ridiculously long...and I think I love it??
feel free to snigger at the satiated look on me...
You have been warned....this blog will probably become a one-trick pony with the tee. What can I say, its so comfy I want to sleep in it. Mmmmm. I guess I should just admit now that I wore it on thursday to the Irish pub, Friday to Danny Bhoy's (comedian) stand up gig and on Saturday to the movies. I vaguely recall wearing it on Sunday for a brief period of time as well.....

RAFW SS 09/10 - Romance Was Born
Finally got a chance to pore through the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week runway shows presented. And by god, wasn't I taken by the Romance Was Born show!
I adore all things Romance Was Born...daring to go where other Australian designers have not yet dared to, this showing was all about fun, ferocity and extravagance in the name of fashion. AND I loved every single part of it. As quoted in the press release on the website, Romance Was Born collections are "irrevent and fun loving, fabric and colour combinations inspire their playful outfits where sparkle, texture and bold prints jostle together in a harmonious jamboree of style".

Design team Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales are clearly brilliant at what they do, and their love for it is clear in their design element. Adore Romance Was Born to bits and will definitely have to indulge in select piece(s) from the collection :)

I love too the backstage pictures, detailing those insanely fantastic white material eyebrow deco pieces and the LVesque-tribal slash burlesque inspired heels AND the extravagantly beautiful makeup:
