Happy Dance time....

Why, you ask? My 100th post.

**WARNING: picture heavy post**

Who would have thought I would keep this going for so long. I have to admit, I love my lil ol' blog more and more every day. Most importantly, I adore the new friends I make every day as well as discovering blogs unknown that get added to the "daily read" compilation.

Thank you all so much for your friendship, your comments and that wonderful comraderie. I've heard some horror stories about the blogging world but have experienced nothing but the best. So thank you all so very much :)

I finally uploaded (downloaded??) my Melbourne pics, a few of which are:

I can't believe its already Saturday night...weekends seem to scream by. I spent a great part of today at my favourite coffee shop, X-WRAY in Fremantle. I adore its location, the staff, the hippy vibe, the great coffee, everything! Tomorrow, my sister and I will be taking mum to brunch at our favourite beachside cafe....yum!

What are you doing this weekend?
Happy Mothers Day to all the mums too :)

Kiltish tendencies

Still trying to upload the photos from Melbourne properly.

In the meanwhile here are a set of shots from just before I left for the course, on a coffee date with Stuart. I love this kilt-esque skirt with its wide double pockets at the front and pleating along the side and back. Noice. Especially like the fact that I could, if I wanted to, use the pockets for storing essentials/extra food (I'm always hungry) or for carrying around that spare joey that always seems to be following me....

Stuart managed to wangle his way into this set of shots, so will just have to deal with having his mug up on the blog for criticism of his "outfit" ;)

I came back to a wonderful surprise from the Seeker; this award:

Searching the Inner Me is a must-read blog with geat articulation and daily outfits, and is particularly inspiring due the wonderful work outfits she puts together. Definitely sexy.

In turn, I'd like to pass on the award to these gorgeous bloggers:

- Deana of Dooder City; and
- Elizabeth Victoria C of Chic Heroin.

Hope you all have a fabulous day :D

Post-Melbourne post

I'm baaaacccck.....

Melbourne was intense, crazy, fantastic, all rolled into one. It started off with our course group, atleast the folks who had travelled there from inter-state, bonding over the 3 hours we had to kill at the airport. The course itself was held at Mt Macedon, a commuter town on the outskirts of Melbourne. People move here for the lifestyle; that rural-residential living style that commands big bucks for vast, expensive houses. Shame about the extreme fire risk, but the lifestyle draw overrides the concerns experienced at the extreme fire risk and actual suitability of the locality for residential development.

The course days were spent bonding with fellow participants and working in groups, followed by "relief" sessions at the bar onsite. The bar was a god-send. The site is federal land, and therefore tax exemptions on alcohol apply. Leading to a substantial consumption of wine ($2.20 a glass) and beer (approx. $3) and spirits ($3.50). I'm not kidding. There was lots of drama, but as they always say 'what happens in Mt. Macedon stays in Mt. Macedon' (yeah, I'm pretty sure that's set in stone ;).

In a sentence? Challenges, alcoholic drips (literally!), sleep-deprivation, stalkers and flattery, intelligence members (ooooh, mysterious ;), Dougie Howser and random conversations and discussions. Fun times. And a long sentence, I know.

The weekend was spent in Melbourne; spending time at the Queen Vic Markets, going to one of my fave op-shops (retrostar; check out the new online shop), doing some shopping, going to our coveted French crepery, and err...fine dining and more shopping.

I was pretty stoked with the shopping I managed to do (and Abby, Melbourne is sooo much more fashionable than Perth, isn't it!), with the highlights being the Tristan Blair wedges I got at Sportsgirl (and that I was completely oblivious to until I saw them in the shop, unlike Rumi and Queen Michelle) and a Museum feather cape a la Brandon Flowers in err...that Killers video. Amen.

Pictures to come, my computer has completely spacked it.

Also, thank you guys so much for the lovely comments and, to the Seeker, thanks muchly for the wonderful award! I'll get around to showing you guys the blog award sooon. I promise. I promise to respond to the comments too, on the premise that my computer keeps up. Grrrr, must look into newbie replacement.

The caption for the following shot goes along the lines of Stuart being a wonderful boyfriend and coming across the country to meet me in Melbourne. The weekend was fabulous, and the fact that he indulged my shopping is testiment to his lovability. Thanks Stu!

p.s. Charles, this one's for you [blog post and the picture obviously] ;)

Teppanyaki Tales

Went out to dinner on Friday night in lieu of Frenchie's birthday.

Teppanyaki, which is where dishes are cooked using a teppan (iron plate) at the centre of your table. Our chef had a fabulous sense of humour and was witty too. He was pretty handy with juggling cutlery and food around ;)

I've heard tales of teppanyaki chefs who have pretty cool tricks up their sleeves, for example one in New York who at the end of the meal had a flaming "thank you" emblazoned on the teppan. We got a flaming onion birthday cake for Frenchie, and yeah we were impressed.

See you guys in a week!

Ballooning. Air. Hot.

Birthday presents that benefit yourself as well are...well....sublime, are they not.

Particularly when they involve hot air ballooning in the Avon Valley, watching the sunrise, followed by a champagne breakfast. Yes, cheesy as all hell, but still its nice to do so once in a blue moon.

The pilot and ground crew expected help setting up and dismantling the balloon. And so Stuart helped with set-up, filling the 100 feet high balloon with air fed in with a high pressure fan. The air was then heated up with a serious burner and we got in and floated up, up and away.

Seriously the most serene form of aviation. Calm, still (at 6.30am in the morning) and utterly fascinating due the fact that the pilot could only direct the balloon up or down so as to be affected by different air currents within the troposphere which in turn would direct the direction of our flight. Landing was exciting; jolting and bouncing down onto the ground in some farmer's paddock. After which, we all folded down the tarp and shoved it (for lack of a better word) into the balloon basket and headed off to the local restaurant for the highly anticipated champagne breakfast.

All in all, brilliant and highly recommended.

Comic Relief

Thought I'd share some comedic shots, as I've been swamped and haven't had a chance to google things/discover any new brands/upload new pics/etc. Plus my computer is dieing a slow painful death....any suggestions as to what I should get? I use it for the absolute basics, no gaming, I might watch dvds from time to time, store a crapload of photos on it and am a die-hard pc fan.

these are from a group outing to deville's pad:

The weekend (now with extra pictures!!!)

As mentioned in the last post, this past weekend was comprised of a music festival all of Saturday, and an internet date with the lovely Stompface on Sunday.
Who played? John Butler Trio, Whitley, Jason Mraz, Mister and Sunbird, Ben Kweller, Whitley, Sea Sick Steve, Blue King Brown, Bob Evans, and many more
Personal picks? John Butler Trio, Sea Sick Steve, Bob Evans and Jason Mraz

Great event to be at as John Butler were performing for the last time as a band (they're concentrating on solo careers), Bob Evans is bloody effin brilliant, Jason Mraz was an unexpected delight (seriously expected much less) and Sea Sick Steve rocks. Mister and Sunbird were fabulous (do you expect less from a band with two sets of drums and violins, guitars, flutes, vocalists, etc) and Dave (lead singer no.1) was a delight to speak to....

Whilst listening to Whitley, we discovered these amazing DCPs (discard the shoes please)

Photobucket
Blue King Brown; goddamit, I want to wear turquoise facepaint and feather earrings...

Photobucket
Bob Evans (alter ego of Kevin Mitchell from awesome Perth indie band Jebediah) the great!

Photobucket
We hit 7pm; looking worse for wear...

I perched myself on Stu's shoulders for a fab 6th row face to face view

Oh to play the double bass and drums like the John Butler Trio!

As mentioned by Stompface in her "internet dating...." post, she took photos of me and vice versa while we had a snack whilst thrifting. She is one gorgeous chicka:

in Guildford town, where she got asked for money (we think...) and I knocked people over with the hanging chair I'd just bought

I didn't think to take a photo of myself at the time but it wasn't anything too spesh, so Stuart took a photo of me afterwards, at coffee, when I swopped my plimsolls for boots:

I spent this morning driving up to Northam for the hot air ballooning I had booked for Stuart's birthday (happy birthday, my gorgeous better half!). It was beyond amazing....pics to come! We then hit our local shopping centre where I committed to a laptop at JB Hi-FI (a Spanish friend of mine accidentally dropped water on mine and fried the keyboard portion :/) and found me some white tights (finally!)
