Untitled.

And now for something slightly different:

Slight deliberation, enchanted captivation
Prismed in veiled fascination
Once upon a time, I was but a poverty stricken façade,
But that well has dried up and I now have it made.
Brilliant evocation and slight of mind,
It all fits in like a light bulb christened with a stronger glow.
Tell me how I managed this, I can only say,
“You captured me; I’m enchanted by your spell”.
Hold me here, corroborate our fortunes thrice,
For the day will come when reaching out will be divulging into our very own.
Blatantly mesmerizing, I call it how I see it,
Yet no complaints because that was the script.
The siren call has whispered anew, deliberation plays no part
Commiseration is but a facet of the ancient war.
So capture is what capture does, wholly and complete.
Give up that lost cause, present anew and lead us to the feat.

The weekend I:

a) went to the Blues'n'Roots festival (and listened to, and enjoyed, a number of bands. the great ones? ben kweller, seasick steve, bob evans, jason mraz, missy higgins (surprise, she puts on a fantastic show). The best? john butler trio...always sensationally brilliant) .

b) had an internet date with "Stompface" (one seriously cool chicka). I didn't show up with a rose but she recognised me anyway. We wandered through Guilford, ate scones and ceaser salads, knocked people over with chairs (me) and got asked for money (her). Good times, photos to come. Here's to internet dates :)

I like this, Anika! I don't think I've read your poetry before--

It has an exactness ('fits in like a lightbulb', I could almost hear the click!) as well as this lilting fairy-tale quality: puts a brave, admirable face on tough subject matter. A lot like you, I think :)

I hope to see more! have a beautiful sunday--and thank you so much for your kind comments, I always look forward to them xx

Thanks for the comments guys, I was a little hesitant to put my own work up here for potential scrutiny. But you guys rock. Thanks all :)

Also, Jason Mraz was incredible. But John Butler Trio, Sea Sick Steve (haha, Stompface, its a spreading sickness I tell you, and yes it happens in waves!) and Bob Evans were equally as cool (or better, in the case of John Butler Trio :)

That festival sounds like fun. And wow, you really impressed me with that poetry of yours, mama. :) I loved creative writing classes back at the Uni. I never enjoyed reading Poetry until I had that class and then learned that I could write some myself. I feel like going back to those "roots" now. Great flow, lady! xo
